Research

This page will be filled with links to research relevant to victims of domestic violence. A good place to start is stopfamilyviolence.org. From time to time I will provide links directly to relevant articles on that wonderful site.

The Leadership Council is another wonderful resource. This is a good place to get information for your attorney if he/she is unaware of the true impact of domestic violence. They address Parental Alienation Syndrome in several articles.

Domestic Violence Abuse and Child Custody is an eight page report that discusses some of the problems regarding domestic violence and the courts.

Margaret Dore on custody evaluators This is a short paper discussing some of the problems in courts relying on custody evaluators.

Richard Ducote on Gaurdians ad Litem more information about the problems caused by custody evaluators. Be sure to take a look at some of the references because they can lead to more information. You may want to share this information with your attorney. Custody evaluators may not be the best idea in situations involving domestic violence.

More from attorney Margaret Dore. This paper involves defending against a custody evaluator's report.

Custody evaluations conducted by psychologist have also been found to be flawed. This paper is designed to give guidance to psychologist conducting such evaluations. Interesting to note-the American Psychological Associations considers it unethical for a psychologist not trained in domestic violence to conduct an evaluation involving domestic violence. I find that interesting since courts often rely on evaluations conducted by people with far less training than psychologist.

Admissibility of PAS This paper covers the admissibility of PAS in court.
